LB NAACP & ACS Real Men Wear Pink Event & Program

This is the 3rd Annual ACS/LB NAACP Real Men Wear Pink Event. Our goal is to raise a minimum of $5,000, excluding expenses. LB NAACP submitted a resolution about African American women and breast cancer that was passed at the National Convention in July.

Did you know? African American women have the highest death rate and shortest survival of any racial/ethnic group for most cancers. African American men also have the highest cancer incidence. Living in segregated communities and areas highly populated with African Americans has been associated with increased chances of getting diagnosed with cancer after it has spread. African American women also have a higher death rate and lower rate of survival from breast and lung cancers.

Breast cancer can be cured! We encourage everyone to consider making a contribution of any amount as well as spread the word about this event and its purpose. Your support is valuable. About 1 in 8 U.S. women (about 13%) will develop very invasive breast cancer over the course of their lifetime. Our united commitment will help raise awareness to fight against breast cancer and find a cure.
