LB NAACP Collects Gift Cards For Children in Need

Christmas Gift

Long Beach Branch NAACP is collecting gift cards in denominations of $20 to give to Long Beach children in need this holiday season. “The COVID-19 pandemic will prevent many underprivileged, low-income children from receiving a gift for Christmas,” explains NAACP’s long-time president, Naomi-Rainey-Pierson. Gift cards will be distributed to children identified by LBUSD, as well as those living in local shelters or low-income housing, children experiencing homelessness, children of incarcerated family members, and families impacted by COVID-19.

To provide contactless donation, the public is asked to mail gift cards to LB NAACP, P.O. Box 1594, Long Beach CA, 90801. The organization needs the gift cards by December 11 so they can be distributed before schools close for the holiday. “We know, because of COVID-19, the need is greater than ever before,” says Rainey-Pierson, adding, “Together, we can create the holiday spirit, spread joy and love and bring a smile to a needy child this season.”
