On behalf of the officers and members of the Long Beach BranchNational Association for the Advancement of Colored People (LB Branch NAACP), I am proud to present the 2021 Annual Report of the efforts and achievements of our organization.
Nearly two years into a global pandemic, our committed volunteers have continued to answer the call, serving the community, and meeting the mission of this prominent and respected organization. Compiling this report, even I took a pause to reflect on just how much our Branch has accomplished together over the past twelve months. A quick review of the Calendar of Events (page 5) lists 80 programs, meetings, fundraisers, and other events that LB Branch NAACP has either organized or participated in. All this hard work, week after week, is done to support and advance the principal missions and objectives of the NAACP- to ensure political, social, educational, and economic equality of all citizens. Also to achieve equality of rights and eliminate race prejudice among the citizens of the United States and remove all barriers of racial discrimination through democratic processes.
A special thanks to our donors, supporters, and all volunteers. I am inspired by this group, from the long-serving Executive Committee members to college interns and scholars finding their way, as we continue the difficult, and sometimes incremental work, of striving for liberty, equality, and justice for all. There’s more work to do, and I am also excited for the year ahead. On behalf of LB Branch NAACP, thank you for your contributions of time, talent, and resources; you make the work reported here possible.
Equality, Inclusion, & Justice for All,
Dr. Naomi Rainey Pierson
President, Long Beach Branch NAACP
