Jermaine Paul, Jr. is a 17 year old bassist from Long Beach Poly High School. He is currently in an elite Jazz Band and Chamber Orchestra at Long Beach Poly. Jermaine has won best soloist awards at the Esperanza Jazz Festival, Irvine Jazz Festival, Reno Jazz Festival, and numerous other venues. He is also a recipient of the 1st place award at the Omega Psi Phi Talent Hunt. He is principal bassist for the Bellflower Symphony, North Torrance Youth Musicians Ensemble, and SAPPA (Scholarship Audition Performance Preparatory Academy). Being the Chief Executive Officer of his own non-profit, Inner-City Music Mentors, he teaches at-risk youth musicians at the Watts-Willowbrook Boys and Girls Club and looking to expand to Leimert Park. Jermaine loves music, and intends to major in Music Performance at California State University Northridge in the fall. His scholarship awards include the NAACP Long Beach Branch Scholarship Program, Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, Poly High School Music Boosters, Inner City Theatre Association, and various other organizations. Jermaine intends to receive his bachelors and master’s degrees from CSUN, in Music Performance and Music Therapy, and impact his community by changing the scope of jazz music.
